My name is Lee Ann, and I have a problem. I'm addicted to books. I wish I was addicted to checking books out of the library. I do check them out every now and then, but, for the most part, I buy books.
I have a complete bookshelf full of books I've yet to crack open. Now, I did purchase most of these at the Friends of the Library Book Sale for $1/piece. Despite this abundance of unread tomes, I found myself buying not one, but two new books today, when I'm currently in the midst of reading three books. Of the three I'm currently reading, I bought two and was given one. I've been trying to read the two I purchased for months now. I hate giving up mid-book, but my interest in these titles has apparently waned. I'll probably put them down again, when my new books arrive.
I think the Borders folks have totally figured me out ... give me $5 in Borders Bucks and free shipping, and I feel like it is my duty to buy the new books I know I want immediately. Patience was never my virtue.
I suppose there are worse vices.
Currently reading:
- The Wordy Shipmates- Sarah Vowell (Love this author...this book, not so much)
- Pride & Prejudice & Zombies - Jane Austen & Seth Grahame-Smith (Love P&P...getting used to the zombie angle)
- A Moveable Feast- Ernest Hemmingway (Just started...love Paris, so there's promise)
Purchased today:
- Her Fearful Symmetry- Audrey Niffenegger (Loved The Time-Traveler's Wife)
- The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown (Liked Angels & Demons better than DaVinci Code)
Your book addiction is one of the reasons I love you. For me, a masters in English program is like putting an alcoholic in a bar and pouring them four drinks. But, I guess in the grand scheme of addictions, it is a rather harmless one(until you decide to move). I really wanted to read the Sarah Vowell book, but I haven't had any spare time. I am currently(as in today and tomorrow because we will move on to something else by Friday--yikes): Bridget Jones' Diary(yes, for class), Watchmen, Wendy Cope and Philip Larkin poetry(love, love, love Wendy Cope. . .you should check her out. . .I'll get you a book title as we are just reading selected works right now), Summer of the Monkeys(trying to decide if I want to put it on my children's lit syllabus or not). See. . .alcoholic in a bar. Enjoy your Borders reward bucks, I have an Amazon addiction(so pervasive that the UPS office called me the other day because my mom had sent me a package and the address was wrong, but they recognized the error and just wanted to make sure that I hadn't moved!)

Oh crap- I just read everything about Her Fearful Symmetry and now I'm going to need to read it too. Thanks a lot.
The Austen zombie book is a hit in our office. Would I like it? Or is it one of the books you're giving up?
Still need to finish the book I bought for the trip to Canada in June. If there wasn't so much on TV I could finish it.
